The Streets Department is responsible for maintaining the city's thoroughfares. Fixing potholes and plowing snow are all part of that mission. You can call the Streets Department at 570-454-2418.
Street Sweeping
Regular street sweeping routes begin after Spring clean-up and end approximately November 1, weather permitting.
Sweeping begins at 5 a.m. and ends at approximately 11 a.m.

Snow BanSnow ban parking restrictions apply to an entire winter season (December to spring).
WHEN WINTER BEGINS IN AN EVEN YEAR (December 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, etc.) - Parking is allowed on the even side of the street during that season. DO NOT PARK ON THE ODD SIDE OF THE STREET.
WHEN WINTER BEGINS IN AN ODD YEAR (December 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, etc.) - Parking is allowed on the odd side of the street. DO NOT PARK ON THE EVEN SIDE OF THE STREET.
The following are exceptions to the parking restrictions and DO NOT CHANGE FROM YEAR TO YEAR:
Vine Street - from Broad Street to Diamond Avenue - parking shall be allowed on the west side of the street only.
Columbus Court - from Morris Lane to Cleveland Street - parking shall be allowed on the north side of the street only.
Laurel Street - from Broad Street to Diamond Avenue - parking shall be allowed on the east side of the street only.
Fifth Street - from Wyoming Street to Laurel Street - parking shall be allowed on the south side of the street only.
Eleventh Street - from Alter Street to Locust Street - parking shall be allowed on the south side of the street only.
Ninth Street - from Laurel Street to Thompson Street - it shall be unlawful to park on either side of the street.
East Mine Street - between Hazle and Mill Streets - parking shall be allowed on the south side of the street only. |
