2018-05-23 Work Session Minutes





Council met for a work session on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Council Chambers. The work session began at 6:35 p.m.

In attendance were Council President Bob Gavio, Vice-President Allison Barletta, Jean Mope, Anthony Colombo, and James Perry.

Mayor Cusat discussed Ordinance 2018-13- Regulating Mobile Food Service Establishments.  This ordinance has been tabled by council.  Mayor Cusat said there needs to be more restrictions with the mobile food trucks parked on Broad Street.  He stated the Papaya Queen Café’s owner said a food truck vendor parked in front of their business. He stated many businesses lose customers with this practice. Mayor Cusat said the food trucks need to be between 150-200 feet from another business. Perry stated most food truck vendors open at 10:00 a.m.  Barletta stated the mobile food vendor fee is currently $50.00.  She said the one-day fee needs to be a separate charge from a full-year permit.  Mayor Cusat stated the First Friday food truck vendors also need to pay the permit fee. He said the $50.00 fee is “fair”.

It was stated there is a large amount of food vendors at the Valmont and Humboldt Industrial parks.    

Mayor Cusat said the Commercial Rental Ordinance will include inspections.  He said the current charge for rental inspections is $25.00.  Mayor Cusat stated the Rental Registration Ordinance should be changed to non-owner occupied.
